Real ID 2025: Are you Ready?

A few weeks ago we sent out a newsletter about information on what is Real ID and the differences between Real ID and a regular license. Well, we are just a few weeks away for the Real Deadline of May 7, 2025. So as you plan your next trip, here’s an important update from the Department of Homeland Security. Above all, please make sure to read further as the change could affect your travel plans.
What is Real ID?
Starting May 7, 2025, the REAL ID Act sets federal standards for driver’s licenses and ID cards.
When flying domestically, you will need a REAL ID compliant license or another approved ID to board commercial flights or enter federal facilities.
Why does it matter?
Consequently, if you don’t have a REAL ID, you won’t be able to use your standard ID for domestic flights after the deadline.
However, you still have options!
📝 Alternative Acceptable Documents Include:
- Valid U.S. Passport or Passport Card
- U.S. Military ID (active duty or retired)
If you don’t have a Real ID or any of the following above, please check https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification for a list of acceptable government issued ID’s that can be used at a TSA check point.
Plan Ahead to Avoid Last-Minute Stress
If you plan to fly after May 7th, then get your REAL ID now.
