3 Tips to Make Your Next Hilton Head Vacation Amazing

Tip #1: When is the best time of year to go?

AVAILABILITY

As a premier beach destination in South Carolina, summer is prime travel time here! The island will be at its highest capacity from Memorial Day weekend to Labor day weekend, and many of the homes, condos, and villas are booked year to year in advance. It is important to plan ahead as much as you can.

PRICING

The most expensive time to travel to Hilton Head is, therefore, during the summer months. Pricing will be cheaper in what is considered off-season, and you can find many options for monthly winter rates!

PRO TIP

You definitely want to keep in mind that most locations book ONLY full weeks (typically Saturday to Saturday) in the summer. You will not likely find a 3-night stay for the summer!

Tip #2: Which part of Hilton Head is the best?

KNOWLEDGE

Knowing the island (or a travel agent who does!) is your best bet for finding the right place for you on Hilton Head. Do you like to be within walking distance of shopping and dining? Do you enjoy a quieter atmosphere? Is having a beachfront resort or house important to you? Answering these questions will help you locate the part of the island best suited for your vacation.

NEEDS

What type of accommodations meets your needs? On Hilton Head, the majority of travelers rent condos, homes, or villas. There are a lot more of these to choose from than your ordinary hotel and resort rooms, too! If you need multiple bedrooms, want a hot tub, or need to have a full kitchen and laundry room, you will want the flexibility of what a home or condo has to offer.

PRO TIP

Be sure to know well in advance how many people will be traveling in your party. This will make it easier to plan for not only how many rooms/bedrooms you may need but also the type of beds in each room (for example, do you need 4 bunk beds or a king and a queen?)!

Tip #3: What are the best activities?

INTERESTS

Hilton Head is certainly not just a beach! If you are interested in golf, shopping, biking, kayaking, fishing excursions, fine dining, historical tours, and more, you will be able to find something to enjoy on the island.

GOLF

The golf scene at Hilton Head cannot be beaten. In fact, Harbour Town on the island is the home of the prestigious Heritage Tournament every Spring. With many golf courses on and near the island, there are plenty of opportunities for every level of player here!

BIKING

Biking is one of the BEST ways to see the island, and it is so easy to do! Hilton Head has designated bike trails and most of your resorts and other accommodations have bikes available for use or rent closeby. There are even family and kid-friendly options so everyone can enjoy the ride!

WATER ACTIVITIES

With so many opportunities for enjoying the water, do not forget about catching a boat to do some deep-sea fishing or even just a kayak in the interior marshlands. You will no doubt see dolphins if you do!

PRO TIP

Find a reputable source-like your travel agent!-who can find and book the best options for these activities for you. Not all excursions and activities may be best for large groups, children, special needs, etc.
