We know the allure of vacation rental or hosted house rental can be tempting with its promise of unique stays and local charm.   Sometimes they are right near all the action or have amazing views!   I recently read an article on Google news that honestly scared me.  Full Disclosure:  I have never personally stayed at a hosted house rental such as Airbnb or VRBO, but I have enjoyed many Bed and Breakfasts.  After reading this article, I can honestly say that a hotel stay does sound much more appealing and a bit safer.  Here is why:  

1. The Host Stays with You

When booking a vacation rental or hosted house rental, you might encounter listings where hosts stay on the property. While this can be a chance to get insider tips, it can also mean less privacy. These fraudsters not only trick individuals into paying unnecessary fees but also request verification of your reservation confirmation number and email address.
